Mrs Gill Finney, B.Ed (Hons), NPQH
Headteacher
I have been fortunate enough to be Headteacher of this wonderful school for several years now. I thoroughly enjoy my job which is made all the more interesting by working with dedicated staff and lovely, enthusiastic children.
I live with my husband and two daughters. We also have a very friendly, loving cat called Toby!
In my spare time – not that I get a lot of it! – I love to dance, go to the gym and read!

Mr Benjamin Leah, BA (Hons), PGCE
Deputy Headteacher and Year Three Teacher
I teach Year 3 and am the Deputy Head at Baines. I live with my lovely, patient wife and have two young sons who wake me up early, even at weekends. I love cooking (and eating what I’ve cooked), music (although lots of staff here don’t think what I listen to can be called ‘music’) and Norwich City Football Club (although I don’t get to see them play too often). I play the guitar (badly) in assemblies and like to teach the children silly songs. Working here is so much fun because the children and staff work hard, are kind and make me laugh.
Miss Rachel Bennett, BA (Hons), QTS
Reception Class Teacher
I teach Reception Class at Baines and love how different and exciting each day is in our class. I really enjoy the creative nature of the Early Years environment and don’t mind getting an apron on to do a bit of digging in the mud kitchen or exploring in the water tray with the children! Baines is such a wonderful and welcoming school and it is a pleasure to teach the children here. In my spare time I enjoy supporting Burnley Football Club and I have also recently started to play golf (although not very well at the moment!). I really enjoy getting out and about and I have recently started the Wainwright Challenge and hope to complete all 214 peaks over the next couple of years.

Mr Tom Jurczak , BA (Hons), PGCE
Year One Teacher
Hello! I teach Year 1 at Baines and I also coordinate PE. I really enjoy watching and playing most sports but particularly football and golf. The football team I support plays in London so I don’t get to watch them as often as I like, but travel down when I can. I have two dogs called Twiggy and Flora who are a little bit crazy. They love going for long walks and jumping in the muddiest ponds possible! I love coming into work at Baines each day because no day is the same as another and each brings new and wonderful experiences. The staff and children work together to make our school a vibrant and happy place to be. A place of learning, fun and laughter.
Mrs Nicola McPhee , BA (Hons), PGCE
Year Two Teacher
I love teaching at Baines where I currently teach Year 2. The children and staff are so fantastic to work with and our topics are great fun to learn about! I live locally with my husband and two boys (aged 7 and 9). Mostly, I am found on a football pitch at weekend watching my football-mad boys play. I have been a season ticket holder at Liverpool FC for far too many years to count! In my spare time I enjoy playing tennis and meeting up with my friends.

Miss Josie Scragg, BA (Hons), (QTS)
Year Four Teacher
Hello! I’m Miss Scragg, the Year 4 teacher and Art co-ordinator. I enjoy being creative and run the Drama Club and Arts Award. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, playing the piano and walking my dog, Tally. I also love to bake – chocolate cake is my favourite! My favourite animals are pigs and zebras. I have felt so welcomed ever since arriving at Baines. I look forward to coming into school to see what each day will bring, as they are all different and we have so many exciting events!
Mrs Sian Andrew, BA (Hons), PGCE
Year Five Teacher
Hello. I teach in Year 5 and lead Design and Technology. I really enjoy singing and drama and I am one of these really annoying people who always breaks into song! I live at home with my husband, my six-year-old daughter, Ellie, and my two cats, Leo and Poppy. I love animals and have always had a pet since being small. My weekends are spent going for long walks with my wellies on and paddling in small streams. Cake is my passion which I love to make but mostly just like to eat.
Since starting at Baines I have been made to feel extremely welcome by both staff and children. I love the challenge that each day brings and have found Baines to be a fun and creative place to work.

Miss Lizzie Hedges, BA (Hons), (QTS)
Year Six Teacher
Hello! I am Mrs Hedges and I am the Year 6 teacher at Baines Endowed! I enjoy going on holidays – especially if it is in a sunny location! I am a huge Disney fan and have been lucky enough to visit Disneyland in Paris, Florida and California! My weekends are usually spent watching my husband play cricket or visiting family and friends. I love teaching Year 6; watching them grow throughout the year is a pleasure to see. The staff and children are all extremely welcoming at Baines and I am thrilled to be part of such a fantastic team! I am looking forward to experiencing new things throughout the year and learning some new skills along the way!
